There is no substitute for morning time with the Lord. Anyone I have ever known who gets consistent time with the Lord does it in the morning. It’s the only time that we get to truly dictate. Evenings often have conflicts that go later than expected, lunch time is too distracting, and any other time of the day is unpredictable. So that leaves mornings.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Mk 1:35) Jesus got time with the Father in the morning. This allowed him to get his bearings for the day and be with people the rest of the time. He was not shy on unapologetic about stealing away, and getting additional time alone with the Father, but morning was his consistent time.
Many people say, “I’m just not morning person.” I’m not either. If I could have it my way I would go to sleep around 11:00 and get up at 7:00. That doesn’t work for my career, nor does it allow me time in the morning to get with Jesus. The secret is to go to bed early. I know it’s novel concept, but try it for 30 days. Go to bed an hr earlier and you can get up an hour earlier to get time with the Lord. My brother –in-law used to be the night owl of all night owls. He could have been on the cover of night owl magazine. For years he went to bed at 3 or 4 AM and got up around noon. Then he got a job he had to report to at 6:00 AM. Guess what, he goes to bed much earlier and gets up in time for work each day.
Bottom line, morning time gives us the best chance at consistent time with Jesus. It might be time to turn off the tv and wake up to get time with our Creator.
