“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God is with you. He will neither fail you or abandon you.” (Deut 31:6)
These are Moses’ parting words, his final cry. He was not allowed to enter into the Promise Land, but he wanted to make sure that his people understood who God was. Moses knew God’s heart, he knew His character, and just like Jesus, he told his followers to not fear and believe.
This verse speaks directly against fear of man. As a guy it is so easy to get caught up in what other guys think about me, what the boss might say about me, and what others’ opinion is of who I am and what I do. Moses tells his people (and us) to be strong and courageous and not to fear. And why should we not fear: God is with us, he will not fail us or abandon us!
Prayer: Oh Lord, cast out any fear in me today. I am yours.
