Lent is one week out: Need a plan?

One week from today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.  If you are in to that sort of thing, or even if you haven’t been in the past, it’s something to consider.  Lent is the six weeks leading up to Easter Sunday.  It is a season to repent.  No I don’t mean say you are sorry over and over, that is not repentance.  To repent is to re-think your life.  Repentance is re-evaluation that leads to action.

So, if you need a plan and you want to do more than just give up coffee or cold beer or chocolate, consider this.  Stop believing something that is bad and ultimately not true, and start believing the good.  Specifically, stop believing something bad you think about yourself, that negative self-talk that sneaks in to your day when things get hard.  In the week leading up to Ash Wednesday pay attention to those negative thoughts that make their way in and decide to stop believing the lie.

This may be a little harder than giving up a thing, but the lasting results will lead to a much better experience in your day-to-day life.  Give it a try.  You might be surprised at the impact this has on your life.
