Lent Day 37

As an Acct/Finance undergrad major I appreciate this next R word: RECONCILED. I remember sitting at my desk at the accounting firm I worked for right after college, pounded away at the 10-key for hours looking for 3.72 that I needed to reconcile a whole year of books for one of our clients. After hours of looking I finally found the mistake. I was elated!

The most incredible scripture involving RECONCILIATION is from Col 1:21-22. “Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has RECONCILED you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.” According to Paul, we have all been RECONCILED to God because of Jesus, not some of us, all of us! The problem is that most people don’t know they have been RECONCILED or don’t receive it. Do you, I mean really? Do you believe that because of Jesus’ death and resurrection we all went from alienation to holy, blameless and above reproach in the eyes of God? I know it is hard to believe, but that is how our Father sees us. We have all been RECONCILED!!!

Living into the truth that you and I have been RECONCILED to God will lead us into a rest that we cannot experience through any other avenue. The freedom that Jesus’ RECONCILIATION of us brings leads to a life of calmness, peace and rest.
