How is having a Sabbath day going? Have you tried it? If not maybe this weekend is the time to give it a whirl. As we get ready to embark on Palm Sunday and head into Holy Week, we would be wise to prepare our hearts and minds with a little rest.
I know it seems like you can’t afford to take a day off, but trust me you can. I’m sure Truit Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-a, had to wrestle with that question when he founded his very successful chicken company. When he announced that his franchise would close every Sunday observe the Sabbath critics told him it would never fly. His competition laughed at the young buck, knowing that Sunday was one of the biggest sales days for fast food. He did it anyway, and for the last 66 years the company has kept the Sabbath. The result: Chick-fil-a grosses more in six days of business that the competitor grosses in seven. It’s amazing what trusting God with your business can do for the bottom line.
It’s your turn. Shut off the computer, kick up your feet and take a break this weekend. The Lord will honor it.
