Lent Day 25

Lack of rest is considered punishment in the Bible. The Psalmist communicates God’s words to us: So I declared on oath in my anger, “They shall never enter my rest.” (Ps 95:11) Thanks to Jesus’ work on the cross the anger of God has subsided and each of us has been invited into God’s rest. Are we accepting the invitation?

The amazing thing about rest is that it is one thing we don’t have to work at. Yes, we have to work against the temptations of the world to stay in a mindset of restlessness, but rest is on our side. God desires for us to rest in Him. All it takes is a little effort on our part. A little movement toward Him will result in a restful state that can transform our lives if we will let it.

Be encouraged today that the cross has saved us from a life of restlessness. God wants so much for us to accept His invitation into rest. He is waiting for us with a hot cup of coffee and a good Book. His words are for us! We are his children!
