Another “life to the fullest” component of life is believing Rms 6:11 “In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” Let that sink in for a minute. Not figuratively, literally. Take a minute, a few deep breaths, and say over and over again for the next minute, “I am dead to sin and alive in God today.” That is the truth! It is so easy to forget.
Prov 23:7 tells us “As a man thinks of himself, so he is.” This is a powerful, yet scary reality. This means that if I think correctly about myself, and by correctly I mean if I believe what God says about me, then I will enjoy life to the fullest that He promised. Unfortunately, the adverse is true also. If I think incorrectly of myself, for instance that at my core I am a sinner, then that thought will affect the way I think about myself and others today. Consider these words from Paul:
“Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” (Rms 6:8-11)
Believing this truth has been a great catalyst to experiencing the life to the fullest that Jesus offers. I am dead to sin and alive in God today! Thanks be to God!
