We are two weeks into a new year. The schedule is back to some sort of normalcy after the holidays, and life is happening. So how are you doing with those goals for the new year? Whether you wrote down your goals, filled out a spreadsheet with measurables, or simply have those goals in your head, it’s almost inevitable that you committed to something for 2013. So how is it going?
Jesus must have been big on celebrating the new year, because one if His primary messages when He was here on earth had to do with resolutions. He called it repentance, but that is essentially what a New Year’s resolution is. It’s repenting of our old ways and habits (or lack of good habits) and committing to take a different path moving forward. One of the beautiful things about Jesus’ message is that it is not just a January 1 message. It is the same each day, and we can start a new at any point and time.
So, if you had good intentions but haven’t quite put action to them, don’t be discouraged. Start now, write out a few things that you sense the Lord calling you to in 2013 and decide to make the changes with Him. And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” (Rev 21:5)
