A Life Well Lived

Conrad Wayne Jaconsen Jan 16, 1936 – January 3, 2011.   It doesn’t seem possible but it is true.  Something in me thinks we are going to go to our regular Thursday staff time at his place and share what the Lord is up to in our lives.  I really can’t imagine doing that without Connie.

The last time I heard Connie share from the Scripture was 4 weeks ago at our Teleios board meeting.  He spoke passionately from one of his favorite passages, Col 1:15-29.  His reflections have huge implications for how we go about our lives:

v.15 “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.”  – Jesus is our God, our Savior, the one who has come for us.

v.20-23 We have all been reconciled!  The problem is that we don’t recognize that this has happened.

Don’t forget that we are the Gentiles, the “outsiders”

v.24 – We are to rejoice in our sufferings (We had the privilege of watching Connie rejoice to the very end.  Two days before he passed he said, through broken words and with a lot of pain, “Whatever you are doing with me Lord, may your name be lifted up.”

v. 26-27  The mystery is Christ in you!!!!  We have the mind of Christ – the enemy tires to take this reality from us.

V 28-29 These are our marching orders…“We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete (teleios) in Christ.   29For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.”

(each of these above reflections is directly from Connie)  This was his final summation that morning:

“Our presence in this world is powerful because God is in us!  Just by building friendships and relationships, not even by speaking the name of Jesus, we are carrying out the work of Christ.  Salvation is our opportunity to live life on earth as Christ lived.  “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:3)  Eternal life begins today men.  Know God and continue to build friendships with others.  As you do that the whole world will be changed.”
